Back and Forth
I think I tend to fluctuate back and forth between really happy and really depressed for no reason. It happens all the time. Today has been one of those downer days. It should, by all accounts, have been a good day. I got a couple new records for my vinyl collection, plus a couple of pretty sweet thrift store shirts (one of which is a white button down which feels just like my sheets!). I got to eat left over spaghetti for lunch and we bought more 29 cent burritos at Aldi. I applied for two jobs and already got two emails back. One was just a staffing firm who said they'd forward my resume, but the other was an actual company who wanted my salary requirements. Still, I haven't been able to shake the feeling that something's wrong. I'm scared and lonely and just want to curl up in my bed and go to sleep. But, who knows. In a few hours I might be feeling perfectly great again.
So let's pretend for a minute that this poem is actually about one specific person and a specific series of events. If you are that person, and you're reading this, what do you do? What if you think you're the person and you're actually not? Wouldn't that be embarrassing? OK, that probably didn't take you a minute to read, but pretend time is over. It's actually a collaborative poem on many situations, both real and imaginary. I mean, come on, I don't even drink tea. But maybe you do.... Or maybe an imaginary person does.
Will you sail back to me
From the seas of infinity?
Or will you slowly drift away
Just like the tide?
I would swim out to you
If it weren't for my pride.
Oh, why couldn't I see
That you needed to be set free?
If there was something I could say
I would have tried.
This day I'll always rue
Because inside I've died.
Over a cup of tea
You told me of your new cutie.
I pretended it was okay,
Smiled and lied.
My hope was crushed anew.
In my song I'll confide.
Current Mood: Slightly Depressed
Currently listening to: ...Is A Real Boy by Say Anything and No Matter Where We Go by Latterman and The Plural Of The Choir by Settlefish (yeah, it took me awhile to write and post this...)
Last movie I saw: Undead
One line review: Zombie fish: what more can I say?
On a scale of 0-5 sucks (0 being the best): 3.5 sucks
